ABOUT
A Multimedia Exploration of Mixed Identity Through Sound, Space, and Interactive Art.
This project explores the multifaceted experience of mixed identity, specifically through the lens of the Puerto Rican Diaspora. It delves into the personal narrative of navigating cultural ambiguity, where I confront the feeling of being 'not enough' within my heritage. Technically, the work reflects the complexities of colonization and its enduring impact on identity, drawing attention to Taino ancestry and the various markers of historical merging.
FEATURES
The technical breakdown of how the installation works is based on three main features: motion tracking, sound playback/spatialization, and visual playback.
01
Motion Tracking

OptiTrack Optical Motion Capture camera
Using The OptiTrack Optical Motion Capture System to find the physical space around the installation using markers and cameras. A tool allowing your positon to interact with the sounds and visuals in real time.
02
Sound Playback / Spatialization

Max 8 Patcher Receving OSC, Playback, and Panning
The tracking data is sent to Max 8 with a library of sounds for playback and spatialization to pan out of 8 speakers. Implementing graphic interfaces and math expressions to calculate where and what to play.
03
Visual Playback

Demo of the instilation with real time visuals
The Unity 3D Game Engine animates shapes paired with advanced graphic and shader coding to create the real time visual effects seen on the 25' by 10' LED Wall. Based on physcial tracking we can use math to animate.
